Psalm 4: Part 1, Literary Living, Finding Joy from Faith, Trust and Breast Cancer

Hello There,
Thank you so much for stopping by! It has been a creatively productive week with progress made on most of my goals. On a more personal note, I’ve begun reading a few books on grief. I know many of you are also walking through loss, just as I am grieving my daddy. They say it gets easier, but the pain never completely goes away.
My most valuable resource during this time is the Bible.  The Touchpoint Bible in the New Living Translation has been invaluable.
Last week, I was recommended two books that have helped me immensely ...

Matthew 6:33, Fiber Fun, Literary Living, Finding Joy from Faith, Trust and Breast Cancer

Hello There,
Welcome back! Are you settling back into a normal rhythm now that the holiday rush has faded? One of my favorite parts of the year is that quiet 'in-between' week from Christmas to New Year’s. For me, it’s a time for rest and reflection. After being "freed" from quaranting in my bedroom, I'm eager to get settled back into my home office.  However, I decided to leave my devotional materials in the cozy corner I created in my bedroom. I managed to tick off most of my goals, finish two great audiobooks, and watched a ...

Psalm 3, Fiber Fun, Literary Living, Finding Joy from Faith, Trust and Breast Cancer

Hello There,
Thank you for stopping by! I appreciate your time and visit!  This week my son had the terrible after-COVID-migraines.   Last night he showed signs of improvement and even asked for pizza!  I think we may start with homemade chicken soup.  LOL!

So it’s been a pretty quiet week around here—lots of reading, sewing, and playing my Township game. I definitely set a timer, because that game can be surprisingly time-consuming. My grandchildren are thrilled that I’ve finally joined them in an online game, and they’ve been patiently—and very gently—showing me the ropes ...

2 COR 4:3-4: Remove the blinders! Literary Life, Fiber Fun from Faith, Trust and Breast Cancer

Hello There,
Thank you for stopping by!    I hope you all had a fun week!  Is fall in the air in your part of the world?  My last two weeks have been filled with doctor appointments, reading and crafting.  I did spend a day and a half in bed after an endoscopy.  Thank goodness all results are normal!
My husband has been a dear, taking over chores and spoiling me with special treats.  Have you tried Helados de Mexico in the pecan flavor?  I highly recommend them.  Just remember, they're like Lays Potatoe Chips, "You can't eat just ...

Ezekiel 36:27, Fiber Fun, Literary Life, Finding Joy from Faith, Trust and Breast Cancer

Hello There,

Thank you for stopping by!    It was another busy week with more doctor appointments, gatherings with friends and various sewing groups.  Toward the end of the week I caught a cold, hence today's late publication.  I'm taking care of myself and know I'll feel better soon.  Mama tells me it takes a good 7 days to feel right as rain, so I'm looking forward to that.
Fall is in the air!  I'm looking forward to making my yummy pumpkin quick bread, soups and stews!
I love reading your thoughts and coversing with you ...

Isaiah 49:50, Romans 8:28-29, Fiber Fun, Literary Life, Finding Joy from Faith, Trust and Breast Cancer

Hello There,
Thank you for stopping by! Saturday was our first Flower Box Friends (see Fiber Fun) class at Be Sew Creative in Las Cruces, NM and it was awesome!  I found my slow stitching people!  Rejoice!  After a brief lesson and discussion, we sat for two hours stitching, visiting and sharing tips!  Oh such joy! Though I've been hand sewing since a child, there's still so much to learn and friends have great tips and tricks to share.
This week I have Sit and Sew at Be Sew Creative, stitching with my Colcha Embroidery Group and then ...

 Hello There,
Oh what a week it has been.  We've been in San Diego with some members our family.  My husband and I will be heading home tomorrow and begin picking up the pieces of our lives again.  I haven't accomplished a lot of goals, but have started a shawl for myself and am experimenting with sock yarn to make a summer/fall  shawlette.
Take good care and, as Daddy used to say,

"Make memories; it's later than you think."

Faith...broken faith...faltering faith.  Here, I will share a Scripture about these ...

Hebrews 12:1-3, Fiber Fun, Literary Life, Finding Joy from Faith, Trust and Breast Cancer

Hello There,

Thank you for stopping by! I hope you’ve had a wonderful week. My son-in-law surprised us Saturday morning with a big, delicious breakfast—eggs, bacon, sausage, potatoes, green chile with meat, fresh fruit salad, and coffee. Yum! We spent the morning listening to the grandbabies share about their lives, and my eldest grandson even gave a presentation on the three-castle kingdom he created in Minecraft. It was wonderful.

Take good care and, as Daddy used to say,
"Make memories; it's later than you think."

Hello There,
Thank you for stopping by!  I've decided to conclude our study of verses for those with faltering faith this week and begin our study of Darien Cooper's devotional written for Hind's Feet on High Places by Hannah Hurnard's next week.  The intorduction and especially the preface alone were so encouraging!
As we've been traveling, many of my fiber and reading goals have been set aside.  Mama is doing as well as can be expected.  We are all supporting each other through this difficult time.  Thank God, we are a unified family filled with ...

Psalm 34:19, Fiber Fun, Literary Life, Finding Joy from Faith, Trust and Breast Cancer

Hello There,
Welcome!  I'm so glad you're here today!    As I shared last week, my precious Daddy has passed away.  He is greatly missed - it feels so unreal.  I continue to draw comfort from Psalm 23.
Thankfully, I can distract my mind as my subconscious continues to process this tremendous loss with machine sewingwhich requires all my concentration.
Your comments and emails have been of great comfort.  Though I'm behind in responding, I've read each of your emails and comments.  Thank you so much.  My family and friends have been sharing their memories of my ...

Revelation 7:17; John 11:35, Fiber Fun, Literary Life, Finding Joy from Faith, Trust and Breast Cancer

Hello There,
As you know, my daddy has been ill for some time. Sadly, my precious Daddy passed away earlier this month. People have called to share their memories of him. Now the stories he used to tell me about  his life they bring me comfort and joy.   As soon as my husband is feeling better, we will be going to San Diego.

Thank you all for your prayers for him and our family during his illness.
Take care and hug the ones you love more than ever before.

Hello There,

Thank you for stopping in! I hope you’ve had a wonderful week.  This week was the last day of time with my grandkids until their next long break.  I’ve enjoyed having them this summer and am eager for our next “Ama Day”.  They call me “Ama” and the days we spend together are “Ama Days”.

Daddy is declining quickly.  His body is tired.  God willing, we are planning a trip to San Diego after my husband is feeling better and can safely travel.  Meanwhile, I am working on fiber arts projects behind-the-scenes, diving into God's ...

Hello There,
Thank you for stopping in today. I'm so glad you're here. This week has been tough, but God has given me strength to study His Word, sew (which has been so helpful), read a bit and even find a bit of joy. I hope your week was nice and that you have a great week!

Psalm 23:5, Literary Life, Fiber Fun, Finding Joy from Faith, Trust and Breast Cancer

 Hello There,

Thank you for stopping by! It’s been a great week with grandkids, friends, fiber arts, and reading. My husband’s still under the weather, so I’ve been taking on errands and tasks he usually does. I’m grateful for his help since his retirement.

We’ve had a lot of rain, and for the first time, our Organ Mountains look vibrant and green!

Take good care, and, as Daddy says,

"Make memories; it's later than you think."

July 27: intro, Psalm 23:4 Part Two, Fiber Fun, Literary Life, Finding Joy from Faith, Trust and Breast Cancer

Hello There,

Thank you for stopping in!  Well, I broke one of my main blogging rules: I always save my posts on a backup post just in case.  Guess what happened?  Yup.  I didn't, and it's gone!  Well, the second time around might be better!

Life continues to be active with grandkids, swimming, learning to shop for the Mediterranean Diet, and a bit of time with friends.  We made happy memories and tried new foods at our potluck.

You'll find the second part of last week's devotional on Psalm 23:4, I achieved most of my ...

July 20: Psalm 23:4, Fiber Fun, Literary Life, Finding Joy from Faith, Trust and Breast Cancer

Hello there!
Thank you for visiting today!  I missed posting last week as we were in San Diego visiting Mama and Daddy.  Daddy is now in hospice, but I'm aware that many people live for years at this stage, so I'm still praying for a miracle. Thankfully, except for the expected decline, they are stable.   I'll take stable any day of the week!

In this week's post, I'm returning to lessons learned from the classic, A Shepherd Looks at Psalm 23 by W. Phillip Keller, who was a shepherd himself, thus enriching this study.  Chapter ...

June 29: Psalm 22; Fiber Fun, Literary Living, Finding Joy from Faith, Trust and Breast Cancer

Hello There,
This summer is a roller coaster:  fun with grandsons, quick after summer school visits from my teen-age grandkids, ever more frequent trips to San Diego, fiber hobbies, reading - life is full.  My older grandkids are attending summer school to advance their graduation date.  They come in hungry, happy, full of news and hugs.  I love the chaos!

We are now on our last treatment option for Dad.  But he is responding well and full of life, though much weaker.  A dear friend of mine takes in our fur babies whenever we go to San Diego.  She wrote, "Anything ...

June 22: Psalm 22, Fiber Fun, Literary Life, Finding Joy, from Faith, Trust and Breast Cancer

Hello There,

Thank you for visiting! We were in San Diego for Father’s Day. Life changes quickly! Daddy had a setback but is recovering. We’re home, recovering, and rebuilding routines. I hope to return to spend time with my “San Diego” family for a “normal” visit.

Daddy’s status is uncertain. We live day to day with suitcases packed, ready to go at any moment.

Though we were only gone a week, my grandkids seem to have grown so much!  I do believe they go through growth spurts when we’re gone!  LOL!  I appreciate the time we ...

Hello There,

Thank you for stopping in!  This week was wonderfully filled visits from my grandkids, a merging of redo of mine and Daddy's non-fiction libraries with brand new wall-to-wall bookshelves!  And, yes, these book are organized using the Dewey Decimal system.  Last summer my granddaughter labeled all of Daddy's 400+ books and I did my own some time ago.  Both Daddy and I had different books, but now the "holes" of information are mostly filled in.  I'm happy when I see them as it has become a beautiful collaboration between father and daughter.

My husband and ...

June 1: Psalm 8, Fiber Fun, Literary Life and Finding Joy from Faith, Trust and Breast Cancer

Hello There,

I hope you all had a fabulous week and are looking forward to the coming week.  Our Memorial Day was a quiet affair.  Many of the veterans we know, both family and friends, have passed away.  As we remember those who fought and died for our freedom, I can’t help but reflect on what members of my Cancer Support Group said to me after I shared I had survivor's guilt.

Those with little to no hope of surviving their disease enthusiastically, with a unified voice said, "NO!  Enjoy your life guilt-free!  If you must, think of ...
